The term communication covers just about any interaction with another person. It includes sharing information, ideas and feelings between people. Communication is a two way process. When you communicate you perceive the other persons responses and react with your own thoughts and feelings. It is only by paying attention to the other person that you have any idea what to say or do next. When good communication is missing, health professionals cam misunderstand or be ignorant of patients need and expectation, furthermore patients may not understand their and the choices available to them. You can probably think of many occasions when lack of communication has left you feeling angry or worried. When people are ill, vulnerable or coping with bereavement the effects of poor communication can result in more than minor irritation. Every year the health service receives many complaints from patients about poor or luck of communication from the nurses and doctors. Importance of communication. Paul Roberts is a client director with internal communication company Business and Brand Engagement. He believes that when it comes to motivation their staff, too many managers overlook the role of effective communication. Demotivated staffs fall into two group: Those who are committed to the cause the cause but dont know what they are doing and those who have great intellectual energy but lack commitment Build clear understanding of your companys objectives and you will get more of an emotional commitment to the business, consequenty productivity should rise, he says. Remotivating the demotivated also means giving regular feedback on the progress of the company itself to staff through meeting and emails from the CEO. You also need to give staff the chance to give their feedback to you and their managers. Apart from helping they feel involved with the business it is also enlightening for the management who get to hear things straight from the coalface. Ian Buckingham; p artner at internal communication firm Smythe Dorward Lambert, says that for maximum effect you need to maximize face to face communication between management and staff this is easier in smaller businesses, where the entrepreneur who started the company tends to be more visible, and offers day-to-day leadership. Dont forget to talk to people, particularly during difficult trading conditions such as now. When organization comes under financial pressure, managers tend to disappear into offices, but they must keep communication. You need a sender, a message, and a receiver for communication to take place. Here some other things that helps communication to be effective: Attention- the sender needs to pay attention to what he/she id trying to communication, and choose the best words and body language to communicate with, the receiver needs to pay attention to what in being communicated by listening and wathing. Attitude- Both sender and receiver need to have a positive attitude. They should want to communicate, and be willing to work to see that communication can take place. Using negative or blaming words show a poor attitude-using I messages and trying to understand the others point shows a good attitude Feedback- Both sender and receiver can give feedback to each other, either by using words or by body language. This helps to show whether the communication is being understood correctly or not Classification of emoticons and how they affect online communication I tend to think of emoticons as the visual aspect of online communication that gives us emotional cues. There are two broad categories of emotional messages that an emoticon can carry: positive or negative. Each has its own use in online communication and I will try to explain them in more specific detail here. A more detailed classification would be: Emotion sharing emoticons-positive/negative. (  ,  ,  ,  ,  Ãƒâ€šÃ‚  etc.) Cue emoticons (,,  ,  Ãƒâ€šÃ‚  etc.) Ornamental emoticons (all custom/animated emoticons) However, bear in mind that because of the widespread and careless use of emoticons these days, certain smilies have almost zero emotional content while certain other non-standard emoticons just serve as amusement value for the end users and dont have much effect in delivering emotional messages. Standard emoticons are generally more effective because they are visually simple and have a direct relation to facia l expressions of different kinds. Many of my explanation are based on subjective analysis and experience and have no backing by objective research. But with experience, I am sure many forum users will agree that emoticons are definitely an important aspect of online communication. Half of the children solved a global-level task (animals-furniture), followed by a basic-level task (either dogs-birds, or chairs-tables) during eac h session. The other half received the basic-level task only. During familiarisation, all infants freely explored a series of four different exemplars from the same category presented one at a time. Infants saw all objects twice, for a total of eight trials. During the test phase, a new exemplar from the familiar category was presented, followed by a different-category exemplar. At 8 months of age, children discriminated between categories in the global-level task, but failed to do so in the basic-level task. At 12 months of age, infants recognised a category change in the basic-level task, but treated both test items as equally new in the global-level task. These findings support the hypothesis that infants younger than 1 year of age show a global-to-basic-level shift in category formation. When I was in first grade, every other day we travel as a class to the computer lab, where we would go to a room with all the lights turned off and a certain amount of computers to be used. The computers were the size of a modern day mini fridge, which you had to stare at for a total of sixty minutes while typing out your spelling words of the week out on a outer space stimulated typing game. We will write a custom essay sample on Technology Now and Then or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Every morning, other than on Fridays, the principal would come on the intercom and say the pledge of allegiance. Where as on Fridays, the broadcast crew, from Monday through Thursday would practice and record on a VCR tape the Friday announcements plus the highlights of that week. In the four classes, as they would have called them, core classes: math, English, reading, social studies; teachers often made you follow along with what was being read out of the text book. If a sentence or point of the text was felt to be important the teacher would write it out on the chalkboard, which sometimes made you clench your jaw because the sound of the chalk grazing the board would create a painful noise that no one could bare to hear. The upside to the chalk boards was to be chosen by the teacher to leave class and go outside to bang out the powder from the chalk in the fat, black, foam eraser. I am now a freshman in college, it is critical that I have the technology such as a computer and Wi-Fi to even begin to try to succeed in my classes. Daily announcements have been around for a while now, but due to the advance in technology, announcements are currently sent via email. To receive these emails you have to have connection to the internet, and most importantly you have to have a device such as a computer or smart phone to access it. In the duration of a class lecture, given by a professor, there is a projector that spits out an exact replica of what is on the computer screen the teacher is using to teach the class. With the image of the teachers screen on a wall, where everyone in the class can see, there is a PowerPoint or a document with a brief overview of what the teacher is lecturing about; which is great so that no one can get lost in what they should or should not be looking at. As for tests, teachers create a test with different versions so the questions are not all the same for cheating reasons. These versions of tests that the teacher created are given to every student in that class, along with a long rectangular piece of paper with a bunch of bubbles labeled A, B, C, D, E, and even sometimes F; which is called a scantron. The tests are not to be written on, but to only be read and the answers should be marked on the scantron. There is a machine that the teacher feeds through the answer sheet first, and then the machine memorizes the answers while the teacher feeds through the entire classes scantrons to be graded. So yes, most tests now are multiple choice, this reason being for faster, more efficient grading done by the teachers. As shown from the examples given, the increase in more efficient technology enhances a student’s education in a positive, more proficient way. Teachers having projectors that are connected to a computer, rather than, a textbook and a white board to write on, for an example, is a significant part of teaching nowadays. Teachers are able to share the information with the students faster and are able to give much more detail for a better understanding, to where the students are, not just skimming over the information, as they would with a textbook, but more encouraged to be engaged in the classroom conversation. The technology now assists the teachers to be able to show students a certain amount of material much faster than if they had to read it word for word from a book and then to write out the key points on a board. These kinds of improvements aid educators more today versus about ten years ago. Throughout my years in school I have come to the conclusion that the improvements in technology has bettered my education, as I am sure it has for most others. Technology has had a positive impact on the way we are taught and how we learn in many different ways. Certain developments, such as the computer, are so influential that if it were all of sudden nonexistent education would come to a screeching halt. Technology in present day is the reason for higher levels of education.

You want to use this question throughout the essay, but in particular, when discussing your early experiences. The next question that you have to ask yourself is, 'What's the value in your background information?' Some college students feel they don't need to add any sort of valuable background information to their applications. This might actually do you some good, since it will make your application stand out from the rest. Make sure you tell your story, but leave out any personal information that might give your reader a negative feeling about you.The last question I'll give you for the sample question is one that applies to all students. Don't lie about your race or et hnicity. It won't be an exaggeration if you're telling the truth, but try to avoid telling anyone else lies about your race.As I said before, these are just the three basic parts of an essay question for grad school.
